HELP! Mandy
went to the vet for what we thought was a routine ear infection.
It looks as if this poor gal has had many ear infections
and the scar tissue has built up to the point where her one ear
is almost completely blocked. She will be having surgery to clear
the ear soon. Without the surgery the infection can not be cured
and besides that she can't hear well out of the one ear. GRRMF
has agreed to pay for the surgery ($300+) but I know the Woody
Fund is running low. We could sure use some donations! NOTE: This is why it is so important to keep your dogs ears clean. Goldens are notorious for ear infections. Please check your dogs ears once a week and clean when necessary. Thanks!!! |
| I would like to thank everyone who contributed to Mandys surgery. The operation was a complete sucess. The procedure is known as a "lateral ear canal resection". The surgeon actually creates a new path to the inner ear. Mandy can now hear the word "cookie" from two blocks away :) |
| Mandy came to us via the Humane Society. She was turned in because of a divorce. Because she is 8 years old and they weren't sure they could place her GRRMF took her in. She is a very sweet girl who just needs a new home. I doubt that she understands why this is happening to her. Mandy was obviously shaved for the summer, but her coat is coming back in quite nicely. |

| Mandy is being fostered in Sarasota by Al and Betty along with their two teenagers and Muppet (pictured above). As you can see, Mandy gets along with other dogs (and cats) and her foster family says she is a joy to have around. She requires no crate, just loving. Mandy has been checked by our vet and is spayed, current on all shots, heartworm free and in great shape. Check out that slim figure! Just add love and you have a dog ready to go. |

A note from Mandys foster parents:
"Mandy is a very sweet and gentle golden which we just aquired
on August 23rd ,one day after Atlas( who was our summer companion) was adopted by a loving family from Lake Mary. Mandy has very good features,a good coat, solidly built with no extra weight to shed, and has a great disposition. She loves to be walked and petted and will be by your side as long as you want her to be. She is 8 years old and of course has all her shots and just recently had a trip to the vet to give her a clean bill of health. We just had a party this weekend at our home and a 3 year old child had played with her and they got along very well,so she appears to love both young and old. I can not say enough good things about her. She had come from a family that had her for her entire life until a change in their family unit necessitated that the golden be placed with a loving home for her continued well being. I know she would be a great asset to a loving family and will win your heart if you meet her. " Al and Betty |
