Daisy is a young female who came to us in what is becoming
one of the more familiar stories for rescue dogs. She was tied
to a stake in the back yard and the family had no time for her.
She was "too jumpy" and they wanted her gone. The particular
twist to Daisy's story is that this little blonde one year old
was tied to a stake in an unfenced back yard and the unspayed
dog was impregnated by a local dog before she came into rescue.
Such a tough beginning for such a young dog! To say that Daisy was energetic was a gross understatement. She was all over the car for the entire ride home. Having never had a dog of this excitement level in my car before, I had no idea that a crate would have helped both of us. But we both made do and finally got home in one piece. |

| Introductions to the rest of the canine crew were uneventful, other than the fact that Daisy wanted to play with everyone! She wanted to run and jump and work off all of the energy that had been stored up when she had been tied to that stake. When we went to go into the house for the first time, Daisy stopped at the door, unsure of what to do. She saw the others go in but was not sure what to do. We called her and she went through the doorway and into a house for possibly the first time. |

She has been a model crate citizen. Not one accident, no
barking or tearing up her mat. She marches right in there when
I say "Kennel up" and waits for her cookie. When she
sees dinner being started, she sits in there and waits for her
dinner to be served in her house. We went through the usual housebreaking issues like " don't chew on the picture frame" and "no counter surfing" . So far, the damage has been minimal - an edge to a frame, a magazine rack knob, one PB & J sandwich and a container of ice cream. She is like a stealth surfer - you don't even hear her get the item off the counter! She was even able to move the jar of peaches out of the way to get to the ice cream without having the peaches crash to the floor. A motion detector set on the counter seems to have resolved that problem. She came running to me when the alarm went off. |

As you can see from her pictures, tennis balls are her favorite toy. She will retrieve them over and over and over and over Even with her tongue hanging down to her knees, she will bring the ball to me and sit next to me waiting for me to take it and throw it. We are still working on having her drop it rather than removing it from her mouth. She loves other dogs and would be best with a buddy to keep her company and play with her. After about two weeks of getting her fill of playing ball and with the others, she has adapted to her routine and is content to sleep when the other dogs sleep during the day. She loves praise and could be good at agility since she loves to jump the low foliage fences in my back yard. |
