I have seen where the wolf has slept by the silver stream.
I can tell by the mark he left you were in his dream.
Ah, child of countless trees.
Ah, child of boundless seas.
What you are, what you're meant to be
Speaks his name, though you were born to me,
Born to me,
Cassidy...

Well...we've got a bunch of Cassidy's     here. Let's see, there's Butch who was an outlaw, Hopalong the cowboy, Kate who is "Scotland's Queen Of Rock", Cassidy the Hip-Hop singer, David the teen idol of years gone by (sigh) and then there's... Cassidy the, ummm, okay so he ain't a Golden Retriever. What he is, is special. Just like all the people featured on the left, he's gonna change someone's life. I promise it won't be the way Butch managed to do it (even though he brought great fame and fortune to Paul Newman).
Okay...so maybe Cassidy is a bit of an outlaw, but he's the kind your gonna  love! Check him out!

Cassidy is a very special boy who needs to find a forever home with someone who can appreciate his dynamite personality.   He is an unique mix of greyhound, setter and retriever. As you can see from his pictures, he is GORGEOUS! Our favorite vagabond needs to find a family where he can finally settle down into his own niche in life and be loved for being just "Mr. Cass" , all of his idiosyncrasies included! Cassidy had a rough start in life and has been lucky enough to be rescued by several people who not only saw his spirited nature, but his immense capacity to love. Cass was picked up as a stray running down a busy road in Naples and once he got into the shelter, staff noticed that his toes on BOTH back feet were broken... One could only imagine what horrible misfortune had been dealt to this sweet dog.  The shelter staff all loved this leggy stray whose exuberance matched his size,  but unfortunately this "wild child" scared prospective adopters away.  All Cassidy wanted was to be noticed and loved,  but instead he sat in the shelter for 8 weeks until his time had run out. He was scheduled to be euthanized when an angel from Golden Rescue in Naples picked him up just in time... She couldn't resist the look in his eyes,  and could see that this was a very intelligent dog,  full of soul and life that needed to be fulfilled. He leaned on the side of his kennel and once he made eye contact with this lady,  there was no chance he was going to be left there to die.

Cassidy Continued...

Cassidy was temporarily placed in a foster home before being adopted by a family with children,  a fenced in back yard, and a young lab mix .  This seemed like the ideal home he so deserved,  but the family did not abide by the rules and policies of his rescue organization. One day,  either someone left the gate open or both dogs were dropped off somewhere, so Cassidy and the lab mix were picked up by animal control as "strays". Cassidy was once again,  back at the shelter and leaning on the side of his kennel making eye contact with whoever would look at him... begging to get out of there. He was filthy,  covered with burrs and ticks, but his spirit was still intact. Luckily Cassidy was initially microchipped to Golden Rescue in Naples;   they were able to find out the story of what happened to him and rescue him a SECOND time!

Cassidy's broken feet, from his first rough time around, have long since healed. He has been blessed with the graceful stride of the setter and the power of the greyhound. It's a thrill watching this boy run,  he's a total AIR CANINE!    As for his broken heart, he is still on the mend every day with lots of love from his foster family and friends.  He is a survivor who can be a "tough guy",  very full of himself,  yet underneath it all, he is one big baby who wants to play all the time and TRIES to be a lap dog...  He is a very loving boy....kisses are always in order and leaning up against you is his favorite thing to do. Cassidy is a more physical dog and needs someone who will accept this part of his sweet personality;  all he wants is to be as close as possible to his person.... He'll settle nicely if he's well exercised and needs to find a home with a fenced in back yard where he can run to his heart's content. Cassidy would do best with a young, active playmate, preferably a female as this guy does have some alpha tendencies! He plays well with most other dogs but since he can play rough at times,  he needs to find his match! Cassidy loves his foster brother and two sisters (all three are golden retrievers), yet has not come to any resolution with his foster cats... He is not aggressive but does love to chase them, so we would have to say no to cats in his future. Cassidy likes children but we feel he is too strong and active for the very small children. Older kids would be fine, he would love to play ball with them and is up to any fun games!

Cassidy Continued...

Cassidy is a very active puppy in an adult body,  all legs and energy that come with his breeding.  His foster mother calls him "a hoot" and always has a humorous story about this Mr. Cass... She is a dog trainer and has been teaching this boy the rules of life as a dog.  Cassidy is eager to learn but will be easily distracted and somewhat challenging at times.  He has been with his foster family for three months and during this time, he has come a LONG way... He is learning all about RESPECT but needs a reminder now and then;  to respect his foster brother and sisters who have been teaching him about their pecking order in the family "pack" and personal boundaries of their food and toys,  as well as to respect his foster parents' rules of the house. A volunteer has been working with Cassidy on a weekly basis in public areas, including the dog park and dog beach, to further his socialization. He is a big boy and tends to come on a little too strong with new dogs he meets;  he has not figured out the canine etiquette of play which tends to get him in trouble sometimes... He has much to learn about body language around other dogs and to respect the space of those who do NOT want to play...even though Mr. Cass means well...  Keep in mind that this boy has had little socialization and structure in his life,  so this is an area of need that his future owner will need to address with him.
